How can I sell on the Retrade marketplace?
Through the listing creation form, you can create your offer with your product for sale by filling in a few fields and attaching images. All products listed on the marketplace can be ordered online by buyers.
With Pre-selected Shipping
When creating your offer, you can select shipping providers in the Shipping Methods section. If you select one or more, the ordering process is fully automated: your buyer pays online with a bank card and selects their preferred pickup point. When a buyer orders your product, we'll notify you immediately so you can take the package to the nearest drop-off point for the buyer's chosen shipping provider. As soon as your buyer confirms they received the product in good condition, we automatically create a payout request, and after a quick verification, the amount is transferred to your specified payment location. The process is that simple, and it's completely free for sellers. The automatic shipping feature is currently available for products up to CA$300.
Without Pre-selected Shipping
If you don't select any shipping method when creating your offer, buyers can still order your product. After a buyer places an order and completes payment, you'll be notified and given the option to select a shipping provider or cancel the order. This gives you flexibility to arrange shipping after the sale.
How does the payout process work for sales on the Retrade marketplace?
For payments on the Retrade marketplace, we use the Stripe system. This secure solution is necessary so that a certified financial service provider stores and handles your bank account data. To pay you for your sales, you first need to register with the Stripe system, which you can do in the Retrade Wallet. As soon as your sale is successfully completed, we automatically create a payout request, and after a brief verification, the amount is transferred to your specified payment location.
How can I create a listing on the Retrade marketplace?
Steps to Create a Listing
- If you haven't registered yet, you need to do so under the Registration menu to be able to create listings on the Retrade marketplace.
- If you're already registered but haven't logged in yet, click on the Login menu and log in with your registered data to create listings.
- After logging in, select the category your listing belongs to in the Create Listing menu
- Fill in the data to be displayed
- Click the "Create Listing" button
What rules apply to listings?
- Only private individuals can list on the site, and only used products. Please only list products that are still actually usable. Products that are like new, purchased new by private individuals but unused, are also considered used products.
- Retrade is a listing site designed for secondhand outdoor gear, where only listings related to this theme can be posted. The listing categories more precisely define what products can be listed on the site.
- Only one product can be listed per listing. Exceptions are listings where you want to sell something as a package, as a whole, but physically contain multiple products.
- If you want to trade, you can only list what you would trade in the appropriate category, not what you would trade for, and the product you would trade for must also be related to the site's theme.
- Information-seeking "listings" cannot be posted. For example, "what's your opinion on xy bicycle" listings are not allowed.
- A product can only be listed in one category; duplicate listings are not allowed.
- Only product-related names can be given for the listing title. For example, "weekend special" titles are not allowed.
- Pay attention to product description and photography to show the product's condition as realistically as possible. This helps avoid future disputes.
What happens to inappropriate listings/sellers?
To keep the site content clean and maintain the theme, we moderate listings. We reserve the right to moderate any listing that doesn't comply with the listing rules. If we need to moderate a specific listing from a user multiple times or moderate multiple listings from a specific user on several occasions, we reserve the right to suspend the account.
What does listing highlighting mean and how much does it cost?
Listing highlighting moves the highlighted listing to the top of search results in all sorting cases and provides special display for the listing compared to non-highlighted listings. If a search result list contains multiple highlighted listings, the selected sorting will also be applied among the highlighted listings.
Listing highlighting costs CA$5 and provides highlighting for two weeks. After it expires, it can be purchased again. Highlighting is paid for online with a bank card.
What can I do as a seller to make the transaction as safe as possible?
All products on Retrade can be ordered online, with both shipping and payment handled securely through the Retrade platform. When you select shipping providers during listing creation, the process is fully automated. If you don't select any, your buyer can still order, and after payment you'll be able to choose a shipping provider or cancel the order.
Every transaction on Retrade is backed by multiple layers of protection designed to keep sellers safe.
- Escrow-style payments mean the buyer pays upfront, and you receive the funds only after they confirm the product arrived as described.
- A structured 3-day dispute window ensures any issues are resolved fairly, protecting honest sellers.
- Shipping through our verified partners includes tracking and delivery confirmation, so there's always proof of delivery.
- Our platform monitors messages for suspicious activity, adding an extra layer of security to your communications.
- You have 5 days to ship the product after a sale. If you don't ship within this timeframe, the order will be automatically refunded to the buyer.
Transactions made outside the platform are not covered by these protections. If you choose to transact outside the platform, we recommend meeting in person.

What size packages can be shipped with Canada Post?

How can I ship my sold package with Canada Post?
You can drop off your sold package at any Canada Post location using the shipping label received in the order confirmation email. You can choose to drop off at a Canada Post office, drug store, or postal outlet. Simply bring the package with the prepaid shipping label to the counter, and staff will process the shipment. You can find nearby locations using the Canada Post locator.
How can I edit my listing?
You can edit your active listings at any time. If you want to edit your listing, follow these steps:
- To edit your listing, click on the My Listings menu
- Click the "Edit" button or pencil icon next to the listing you want to edit to go to the listing edit page.
- On the listing edit page, you can modify your listing data, then click the "Save" button to save your changes.
How can I archive my listing?
If you want to archive your listing, you need to follow these steps:
- To archive your listing, click on the My Listings menu
- Click the "Archive" button next to the listing you want to archive
- The following confirmation message will appear: "Are you sure you want to archive this listing?" Clicking the "OK" button will archive your listing, making it invisible to other users.
What happens if my buyer doesn't pick up the package?
After your package arrives at the destination locker, your buyer has five days to pick it up. If they don't pick it up after the five days, the package will be returned to the drop-off point free of charge for you.
Does shipping cost anything for sellers?
Shipping is completely free for sellers. The buyer pays the shipping cost as part of their order, so you don't have to pay anything. You will receive the full listed price of your product. Simply drop off the package at the shipping provider's location using the code or label from the order confirmation email.

How can I buy on the Retrade marketplace?
Check out the latest listings, use the categories or search with the detailed search to browse the selection. All products can be ordered online — simply click the "Order Now" button on the product page. If a product doesn't have a price listed, you can use the negotiation feature to agree on a price with the seller first, and then place your order.
How Ordering Works
You can buy any product online with a quick bank card payment. After you pick up the product and confirm that everything is fine with the seller's product, the seller only then receives the amount you paid. This ensures a secure transaction. If the seller has pre-selected a shipping provider, you can choose your preferred pickup point during checkout. If not, the seller will arrange shipping after your payment. The shipping fee is calculated during checkout, and our handling fee is 10% of the product price (at least CA$4), for which you get:
- Product shipping to your chosen pickup point
- Bank card payment that we only give to the seller after your approval
- Support for resolving any issues with the ordered seller's product

Product Selection and Ordering
Under the Listings menu, choose your desired product. The selected product page contains information including the seller's description, images, price, and additional details that help you better understand the product.
If the product is suitable, click the "Order Now" button on the product page to proceed to the data verification and pickup point selection interface.
If the product doesn't have a price listed, you can use the negotiation feature to agree on a price with the seller. Once a price is agreed upon, the "Order Now" button will appear for you to place your order.

Data Verification and Pickup Point Selection
On the Order interface, you can verify the product you want to order and the amount to be paid. Before proceeding to payment:
- Verify your name.
- Select the pickup point where you want to receive the product.
- Verify your order details.

Order Finalization and Payment

Purchase Confirmation
After successful payment completion, our system redirects you to the successful payment page, where we inform you in detail about the points described below. You'll also receive a confirmation email about your purchase, where you can see the purchase details.

Product Pickup
- The seller has 5 days to ship the product; you'll receive an email notification about the shipment.
- Delivery usually takes 5-7 business days. Don't worry if it takes longer; you can track your order status under the My Orders menu.
- To pick up the product, you need the unique code from the shipment confirmation email, which you must provide at the pickup point.

Received Product Confirmation
This process ensures that your order meets your expectations in every respect. After receiving the product, please consider the following:
- Check the product condition to ensure it matches what was described in the product description.
- Please check the products immediately after receiving them so you don't miss the opportunity to approve or reject.
- You have {autoCloseDays} days to approve the order; after that, the system automatically approves it.
Acceptance
If you're satisfied with the ordered products and find everything as described, please confirm your order by clicking the "Accept" button under the My Orders menu. After this, the transaction is completed and the product price goes to the seller.
Rejection
If you notice any problems with the ordered product, please report the issue by clicking the "Reject" button under the My Orders menu. After this, we'll investigate the case, and if we determine it's appropriate, we'll refund the amount.
What happens if the product I received is not as expected?
If after receiving the ordered product you notice that you didn't receive the correct product or it's not in the condition described, you can take advantage of the fact that you bought on the Retrade marketplace. After receiving the order, you have 3 days to report your problem. To do this, you need to click the "Reject" button under the My Orders menu. After this, we'll investigate the case, and if we determine that you really didn't receive the correct product or the product in the advertised condition, we'll refund the product price.
Additionally, if the seller doesn't ship your order within 5 days, it will be automatically refunded without you needing to take any action.

- From a buyer's perspective, it's worth taking screenshots of the listing that include the description and listing images. This way, even after the listing is deleted, you can clearly see what parameters the seller used to list the product.
- If the seller's product description needs clarification, it's worth doing this in writing, so you can see the information the seller provided about the product retrospectively. If you talk to the seller on the phone, write down the agreements in a message afterward, which they confirm.
- Always order and pay through Retrade to ensure your purchase is fully protected by our escrow system and dispute resolution process.
How does the bank card payment process work?
We process your bank card transaction through the Stripe payment platform, which is a reliable and secure payment method. Your data is safe; if you want to learn more about this, read Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Images don't appear when browsing listings, what's the reason?
Ad blocker/adblocker blocks the display of images associated with listings. Add retrade.ca domain as an exception, and the images will be visible.
